The beeping of machines fills the room with an uncomfortable air. Arthur stands by the foot of her hospital bed watching like always. Light creates a curious air around his body- something like an outer radiance. The bright ceiling lights reflect off his dirty blonde hair to transform it into golden, down-like strands. His odd, pristine suit clashes with her dingy hospital gown. His green eyes strain to look at her. A young woman lays in a large hospital bed- unconscious for the past two hours. The greenish purple bruise has seared her thin neck; angry red patches litter themselves along her pale neck. He clenches his stomach, glancing away.

My boots are very heavy. They bang against the wooden, hollow stairs. Each step echoes in this narrow stairwell. My breath is shallow.
